Respite care provides temporary support for someone who normally receives care from a family member, friend or primary carer. It allows carers to take a break or manage other commitments, while ensuring the person being supported continues to receive safe, compassionate care.

Respite care is available for older people and individuals with disability. If the person you care for receives NDIS or Support at Home funding, they may be eligible for funded respite services.

Respite can range from a few hours to several days. NDIS participants may be eligible for up to 28 days of Short Term Accommodation each year, while aged care respite can be arranged through Support at Home.

Home Caring offers in-home respite, community access respite and Short Term Accommodation (STA). We do not currently provide residential respite in aged care facilities.

Yes. Respite care may be funded through a government Support at Home package or the NDIS, depending on your situation. We can help you understand your options and develop a plan that fits your funding.
