Why choose HomeCaring Smithfield

Care you can feel confident about.

Price increases are a common concern for our clients. These are the questions families ask us most, and how we answer.

  • What if prices go up?

We work together with the client and their family to make the necessary adjustments, so they keep receiving continuity of care, or work towards a higher funding level.

  • What are your service fees?

We give clients a copy of our Support at Home price guidelines, so they have a complete understanding of our service fees.

  • Can I book and cancel services when I need to?

Yes. We encourage you to tell us 24 hours in advance when you need to cancel a service, so that you don’t lose the booked hours for a support worker. We also have an after-hours phone line for last-minute bookings and cancellations.

  • Can I choose who provides my clinical care?

Yes. We encourage choice and control. As long as your chosen provider has the appropriate documentation and licences and is registered as a business, they can become a vendor with HomeCaring.

What families told us was missing

Local gaps we’re closing

  • Company and connection for people who feel lonely or bored
  • A sense of belonging and engagement

Local day programs

Getting out and about.

Regular outings that keep clients connected to their community.

Day programs and excursions

Our day programs let our clients connect with each other and visit places of interest. Excursions this year include Sea Life, Calmsley Hill City Farm, Zia Kitchen Roselands, The Grounds of Alexandria, the Centrepoint Tower sky view buffet, the Australian Botanic Garden, Canberra tours, the Fish Market, and apple and persimmon picking at TNT Produce in Bilpin. We try to create new and exciting experiences for our clients while also visiting their favourite places.

A calendar for the year is sent out in January, and registration opens one month in advance

Open to all ages, mobility levels and interests

We try to make our day programs accessible to all ages, mobility levels and interests. We complete a risk assessment of a potential venue up to a year in advance. Where a venue isn’t accessible, case managers make an informed decision before offering it, and talk with the client about how best to support their needs. We make the necessary enquiries and bookings.

Part of the community

Our team and local connections.

  • Friendships that last

The day programs started because clients told us they felt lonely, bored and wanted a sense of belonging and engagement. They’ve grown from 20 to 40 participants a month to 120 to 140. Clients have something exciting to look forward to each month, and many have made friends, exchanged phone numbers and kept up meaningful connections outside our day programs.

  • Local clubs

We work with local community clubs, such as Cabra-Vale Diggers Club and Mounties in Mount Pritchard, for workshops and events.

  • Access to funding for the Vietnamese community

We help members of the Vietnamese community gain access to the right funding.
