People with a disability are often talked about as if they are in one group, but we know that every individual client at Home Caring has different needs, we endeavour to ensure that we provide a service that meets those needs.
Providing care that has been completely personalised for every individual is important to us here at Home Caring. We recognise every individual as the unique person that they are, and it’s why we avoid a solution that is “one size fits all”. Our care plans are person-centred, not plan-centred, which means that you get a service that shines a light on what you need and delivers a solution for it.
Home Caring provides professional home care services, tailored to your needs.
Home Caring is a National Disability Insurance Scheme provider, which means that you can ensure that you get an organisation that sees your needs and is committed to helping you meet them. Home Caring is proud to offer NDIS support, whether we can help with a smaller package that requires minimal assistance to a larger package that involved wraparound care. As part of our service, you’ll have unlimited access to a personalised suite of supports with our helpful and friendly support team.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme – or NDIS – is implemented entirely by the National Disability Insurance Agency. It is a focused initiative that allows those who qualify to access funded supports that are based on the needs of the individual. The support that is provided under an NDIS plan allows your loved one to continue to live a full and independent life, and there is a variety of funded support available with the National Disability Insurance Scheme. This support covers some of the following areas:
Individuals who qualify for this level of support will be able to get help with daily personal care and activities such as those that Home Caring can provide.
Disabilities don’t restrict some people from successfully obtaining a position in a company, and NDIS support can assist with keeping this employment and finding it in the first place.
NDIS approved service providers like Home Caring can ensure that you maintain connections in the community, which can include behavioural support and therapeutic support for everyday life.
NDIS accredited providers like Home Caring can provide clients with links to community education programmes
With NDIS support, individuals can get the help that they need with daily supported living in the home.
Whether your loved one needs technology to assist with movement every day or you need modifications to their vehicle to enable them to get around, NDIS can help.
No matter whether someone has a permanent or temporary physical disability, or indeed a learning disability, our home care workers can ensure that they are able to live their life to the fullest while enjoying the comfort and safety of their own home. When you choose us, you will be provided with a friendly and experienced caregiver for disabled persons who can assist with everything you need, whether it is support with daily tasks or more involved cases, including lifting and handling. Our team of caregivers have the knowledge and experience to ensure you get the very most out of your life.
There are specific criteria that need to be met to be eligible to qualify for an NDIS plan with an NDIS provider. The criteria include the following:
Your loved one must be under the age of 65
Your loved one must be:
An Australian citizen, or;
A permanent resident, or;
A citizen of New Zealand who is a Protected Special Category Visa holder
A person who has a significant or permanent disability requiring assistance from others, special equipment or technology.
At Home Caring, we are proud to be able to provide NDIS disability care. If you have any questions as to whether your loved one is eligible for NDIS provider support, giving us a call can make a big difference to the future of care your loved one receives.
Depending on the supports included in your plan, HomeCaring services that you can use your NDIS funding for include: personal care and activities of daily living, employment assistance, domestic assistance, community participation activities, mobility equipment, assistive technology, education support, capacity building programs, allied health therapies (e.g. occupational therapy, speech therapy), disability accommodation and more.

Home Caring offers a wide variety of disability services. This includes personal care (dressing, showering, grooming), domestic assistance, meal preparation, activities that promote community participation, transport, capacity building activities (e.g. sessions that enhance your social, transport, physical or intellectual development), companionship, self-medication prompts, respite care and behaviour support.
We also offer support coordination, specialist disability accommodation and rehabilitation services, such as speech therapy, occupational therapy and physiotherapy. For more information about what we offer, get in touch for a free consultation.
The National Disability Insurance Scheme Act 2013 developed the NDIS, and it has been a life-changing response to the needs of those who require specialised disability care. There is an emphasis on community support, education and happy daily life. There were other care programmes developed previously as individual schemes, and these have come together to create a new opportunity in which all needs can be met in one single place. This means that NDIS approved service providers like Home Caring can provide services that are above and beyond all others.
Eight Domains Of NDIS
There are eight specific domains of the framework of the National Disability Insurance Scheme, and these are as follows:
Home
The NDIS takes into account the way that your loved one can undertake support or receive support for domestic chores as well as maintain a home that is as safe as possible.
Lifelong Learning
This NDIS support includes access to all methods of learning, both formal and informal. Educational engagement skills are included, as well as home skills that can be learned for better stability.
Health & Wellbeing
Personal hygiene is a big part of health and wellbeing, and this NDIS support element is the management of the health and diet needs of the participant. Water intake, exercise and medication are all included in this area, too.
Day-To-Day Living
This considers what your loved one will need to maintain their independence during the day. This includes communication, time management, personal care and commitments.
Employment
Fulfilment comes from having somewhere to feel needed, and part-time work can lead to this. NDIS care providers work hard to help participants of NDIS plans to obtain and maintain employment long term.
Relationships
Personal connections and relationships are essential, and this NDIS support can help to support those connections. There is also help for those who do not have access to a circle of friends or do not have any family.
Social and Community Participation
Interactions in terms of attending social community events and volunteering are important, and it’s seen as a key to personal happiness and growth.
Choice and Control
Person-centred care plans allow an element of control over how the care is given, and this NDIS support enables a participant to have autonomy over the supports that they want to engage in.
Individualised Care Plans
The one thing that stands out with NDIS plan management providers is that you can obtain a care plan that is wholly individual and tailored to the needs of your loved one. The chosen supports that you want to be involved with are entirely up to you and your loved one, with your support implemented through an individualised plan. When you determine your eligibility for NDIS funding, one of our managers will sit down with you to talk you through the application process.
You’ll then be able to decide on the support that you want for you and your loved one.
Individualised NDIS plans aren’t just based on the needs of today, but of the aspirations and goals that you have for the future. Practical and emotional support needs are covered, and with the right consultation with your NDIS approved providers, you also have the chance to adapt your individualised plan, later on, should you wish to.
At Home Caring, we can access and provide more than one service and ensure that the needs of your loved one are met at all times. At Home Caring, we promise to:
To be eligible for the NDIS, you must be:
The NDIS aims to understand a person’s goals, then provide funding so they can access the support they need to achieve those goals. It is based around each person’s individual plan, which means that the amount of funding you receive is dependent on the kinds of support you are eligible for.
The NDIS works with a set price guide, so you can look at the NDIS Price Guide for 2019-20 and the Support Catalogue for 2019-20 for more information. If you would like help putting together your own NDIS plan, please get in touch for a free consultation.
If you started receiving NDIS funding before you turned 65, you can continue to receive funding as an NDIS participant or change and receive Aged Care support instead
If you are over 65 and aren’t on the NDIS, you are not eligible to access NDIS funding. You may still receive support through the Aged Care system.
Navigating the NDIS involves dealing with a large amount of information. A support coordinator can help you understand your plan better, make informed decisions and implement the supports in your plan. They can also negotiate with providers about what they will offer you and how much it will cost from your funding, make sure service agreements are in place, and help you stay on top of your bookings. They also help you prepare for your plan review.
Here’s some advice on how to find a support coordinator that’s right for you. HomeCaring also provides NDIS support coordinator services. If you need one, please get in touch (and you can meet one of our support coordinators on our blog).
Applying for an NDIS plan generally involves preparing for a planning meeting, meeting with an NDIS or Local Area Coordinator to discuss the goals you want to achieve, getting approval from the NDIA and completing a review. We can support you through this process – please get in touch for more information.
The NDIS doesn’t provide housing, but gives you funding to access accommodation that suits your needs if you are living with a disability.
If you are eligible, the NDIS funds the cost of your housing by making payments to a registered disability housing provider. This could be for short-term accommodation (STA), medium-term accommodation (MTA) or specialist disability accommodation (SDA). The NDIS can also fund modifications to make your home more accessible.
The NDIS is separate from the Disability Support Pension. If you receive the Disability Support Pension from Centrelink, you can also receive funding from the NDIS. The same goes for Carers Payment: an income support payment given by the government. It is not affected if your loved one is also eligible for the NDIS.
